Pay Per Click

Why Is Google Ads So Expensive – Or Is It?

So you have started running Google Ads and the cost you are enduring are a lot higher than expected.

Obviously there is a difference between expectations and outcomes and that can come down to a number of factors.

1. Not Fully Understanding Pay Per Click Marketing

Pay Per Click works when a user clicks on your Ad and visits your website.

It works on an auction system where you bid on each keyword.

When your Ad is clicked you pay 1c more than the person below you was bidding.

If you are in 1st place, you will pay 1c more than the maximum bid of the 2nd bidder.

If the value of a new customer is high, your competitors are willing to pay a lot per click to aquire them.

That is what it can cost a lot. Some marketing managers think it is all attributable to the PPC Agency, which is not the case.

2. The Campaigns Are Not Set Up Correctly?

It can be easy to set up a campaign quickly and not put much thought into it.

That is a recipie to get wrecked.

You would go to a car auction and bid on a load of random cars, you can’t do it with PPC either.

If it’s your first time running Google Ads, you are best off to contact a Google Ads Specialist to assist you.

3. Google Adwords Does Not Fully Suit Your Business

Sometimes the cost that you need to pay to attract a new customer is not worth it for your business.

Perhaps there is no direct keyword that people are typing in to get your product.

Whatever is the case, you need to consider the real value of a customer which is the next point.

4. You Have Not Calculated Your Return On Investment Correctly

Say a Mechanic pays €15 to aquire a new customer and the job only makes him €50.

He may say it is not worth his while to do it.

The thing is however, that customer is likely to come back repeatdly when he has another issue.

He is also going to recommend you to a friend.

You can’t overlook these facts when considering how much your willing to pay for a new customer.

5. Not Implementing Advanced Techniques

When you get a list of people who have visited your website, the next step is to remarket to those people.

You can Remarket on the Display Network and on Youtube.

This will net a higher conversion rate at a much lower cost.

By running these kinds of advanced methods, we can drastically reduced our average cost per acqusition of a new customer.

Overall Google Ads can be expensive when their is poor setup, its not economically viable or you are not remarketing to your audience.
